Zion Care was founded because families throughout Maine deserve steady, professional in-home care they can truly rely on.
As a locally owned Maine agency built from personal experience, we believe that home care when done right is fundamentally different from care that is rushed or impersonal. It is thoughtful, consistent, and deeply respectful of each family's unique needs.
Built from personal experience.
We started Zion Care because we lived the reality that so many Maine families face. For years, Elysée helped care for his grandmother. What began as simple visits after school turned into full days of support: helping with meals, making sure medications were taken on time, and just being there so his grandmother could stay in the home she loved.
We saw firsthand how quickly things could feel overwhelming for the family, even when everyone was doing their best. That experience stayed with us. We realized Maine families deserved reliable and consistent services. So we built Zion Care from the ground up, starting with the kind of care we wished we had for our own family: steady, personal, and truly local.
Today, we are an owner-operated team based in Auburn. Our caregivers live in the communities they serve, from York County to greater Portland to the Lewiston–Auburn corridor. For us, home care done well means the same familiar face showing up on time, knowing your loved one's routines, and having a real person, never a call center, ready to answer when something changes.
Our promise is simple: we will keep growing the way we began, with heart, with accountability, and with the belief that every Maine family deserves reliable and consistent care.
Our mission and values.
Zion Care helps older adults stay in their own homes, safely and on their own terms, for as long as they choose to.
Dignity
Every person we care for is respected, heard, and seen.
Reliability
We show up on time, prepared, every shift. Schedules are kept and calls are returned the same day.
Care
We hire for warmth first. Skills can be trained.
Standards
Training is ongoing. Documentation is thorough. The work is reviewed.
What sets us apart.
Care plans built around the person.
We write the plan with your family, not from a template. We learn the morning routine, the foods your parent will eat, the topics that calm them down, and the topics that don't.
Privacy treated as a baseline.
Caregivers are trained to ask before they help and knock before they enter, the small dignities that matter when care happens in someone's bathroom and bedroom.
Continuity through change.
When the situation changes, a fall, a hospital stay, a new diagnosis, we adjust the plan and stay in close contact with case managers, physicians, and you.
Caregivers chosen carefully.
We hire for temperament as much as experience. Then we train, match, and keep the same caregiver assigned to the same family whenever we can.
Background checks, insurance, and oversight.
Every caregiver passes background screening, completes ongoing training, and works under full insurance and bonding. Work is supervised and records are kept.
Leadership you can put a name to.
